Bali Dolphin and Wild Life Resort

September 25, 2008

Maarten loves animals so we asked the manager of the villa if there was something like that in the neighborhood. So we were driven to the Melka Excelsior Hotel which was just a 10 minute drive. It was a zoo and a 3 star hotel and a kinder garden mixed into one. We had the option to swim with dolphins, watch a great show with otters who did all kinds of neat tricks and watched all kinds of animals. We ended with a walk through the butterfly garden en chippies for Maarten and a milkshake for mom and dad. The staff was very friendly.

Walking the beach after dinner is like stepping into a rotating Windows Wallpaper… and the best thing is … it’s all in front of the villa on a near empty beach. It’s no surprise that we have produced over 5 gig of digital photo’s :)

What is not present on the photo’s is the sound, the terrific calming sound of the waves and the wind through the trees. It’s more beautiful than the pictures can represent.

image When we strolled along the Lovina beach in Kalibukbuk vilage we met Putu who gave us a folder to try a Traditional Balinese Cooking Course at his home. We visited the local market and then learned how to prepare authentic Balinese dishes in the kitchen of Putu’s family.

We used many ingredients like lime leaves, coriander, lemon basil, salam leaf, kafir lime, ginger, cumin, galangal, garlic, candlenut and other ingredients.

And we had the end result (see bottom picture) as lunch. Pretty delicious!

If you are in the neighbourhoud try: putuscooking@hotmail.com or 081 338 563 705 to reserve a cooking lesson with Putu and his family.
