My Xara 4 CD   arrived today so I began exploring  the cd’s and found a gazillion photo album templates. The one above is an example (of our extremely successful first bbq ).

As you may have read I bought the Weber One Touch Platinum  57   and as you may also have read I don’t know anything (yet) about BBQ-in’.

But the device is actually working! No usb, no scsi, no RAID and no weird protocols, marvelous!

I may actually enjoy this.

Zoals ik blogde was ik op zoek naar een BBQ en wilde ik deze betalen met PayPal. Het gekke is dat alle hits in Google Nederlandse bbq winkels tevoorschijn toverde die geen PayPal ondersteunden. Bovendien kostte de BBQ overal evenveel.

Via ebay.nl kwam ik toevallig terecht bij outletplanet (http://www.outletplanet.nl   en http://www.outletplanet.de 1) terecht en hier kon ik betalen met paypal. Niet alleen dat, maar de Weber Platinum was ook nog eens €50 (!) goedkoper dan bij alle andere BBQ winkels, vrij bizar dat verschil.

Ik ben hem gaan ophalen in Hengelo en ontdekte een ontzettend grote doos, echt niet te tillen. Maar de persoon aldaar was zo vriendelijk om hem via een liftje voor mij naar de auto te rijden en erin te laden, echt een super service. Bij thuiskomst heb ik met moeite de doos uit de auto gekregen en hem maar naar binnen *geschoven*. Mooi ding, jammer regende het maar ik sta te popelen om hem te gebruiken (normaal bezorgen ze alles maar ik wou hem gewoon hebben).

Deze winkel: outletplanet.nl is echt een tip. Op de een of andere manier kom je hem niet in Google tegen bij het zoeken naar producten maar ze hebben vrij veel leuke spullen en veel goedkoper dan je normaal tegenkomt, dus een erg goede tip (disclaimer: ik heb geen relatie met deze winkel) toen ik rondliep in de winkel kwam ik vanalles tegen, van Playmobiel tot electronica tot huishoudelijke artikelen. Op de een of andere manier staat op de webwinkel maar een klein gedeelte van wat ze hebben.

Ik zag ook dat ze de Wunderbar hadden. In deze biertapper kun je ALLE soorten vaatjes stoppen, dus die van Krups, Heineken (beertender), Philips, Inbev (PerfectDraft) en ALLE maten (dus 4,5,6 liter) bovendien kun je er ook wijn, frisdranken etc… mee koelen, en hoeveel kost ie bij outletplanet? 99 euro (€190 elders….). Dat is dus way veel goedkoper dan mijn Beertender kostte. Bij deze dus mijn Beertender to koop voor 99 euro, dan ga ik over naar de Wunderbar.

Ik ben blij dat ik deze winkel gevonden heb. A) ze zijn goedkoper dan alle andere winkels B) ze hebben interessante goodies C) erg goede service D) ik mag er betalen met PayPal.

En nogmaals: het rare is dat je ze niet tegenkomt bij Google searches of prijsvergelijkingssites dus vandaar dat ik het maar ff blog.

It’s getting sunnier again. So me and my wife decided that it was finally time to buy a BBQ.

After some research I decided to buy a BBQ from Weber  , I read BBQ-guru stories from people who have been using the same Weber BBQ   for over 30 years and the it seems to be a general available commodity preference within it’s price-class. The newest “innovation” of the company is the one-touch system, which some people like and some don’t but I think it’s neat.

I don’t know if I will be BBQ-ing much either but when I surf the zillions of BBQ-bible, BBQ-organizations, BBQ-experts, BBQ-forums I slowly get the feeling that this may become well my newest gadget While Engadget   may only review technological stuff, a BBQ absolutely belongs in the list of Man’s Toys! So move over Home Theatre, PDA and Gaming System because your newest buddy in the house will be a BBQ!

Within the budget I had given myself, and after going through a lot of sites (check the bbq.startpagina.nl  ). I found an awful lot of Webers. I decided to stick with a charcoal BBQ (although there are models which just lighten your charcoal with gas whereafter you can just get on with your fun) and found The Weber One-Touch Platinum 57 to fit my needs mostly because it has this handy plate and place to put stuff on and it looks kinda sturdy, so Maarten will have no chance of bumping it to the floor. Furthermore it has this handy tuck-away system so you just shove the cover aside, no need to use your hands to lift it.

It has the one-touch system, A handy side-table to put my meat on, Triple plated hinged cooking grate - 57cm (22.5″) diameter cooking area, Factory-assembled stainless steel One-Touch cleaning system, No-rust aluminium vent, Removable, high capacity ash catcher, Porcelain bowl and lid, 1 Glass-reinforced nylon handle, crack proof all-weather wheels and with the anniversary edition I get 3kg free briquettes, firestarter blocks,messing cleaning brush, bbq cleaner, roaster cleaner and … the one-touch Platinum Cover which normally costs about €90.

So, absolutely, there is also the Weber Summit S-650 0 (!) but this is, I think, way above my budget for a simple BBQ user.

The only problem is now that I really want to use my PayPal account to buy it, it’s online so I need to buy it via Paypal! (else I could just go to the Praxis which also sells them and is a couple of streets away). Let’s see where we can buy it:

BBQWinqel    sells it but not support PayPal
Outdoor Cooking   has no internet shop and therefore no PayPal

Hmmm…. let’s keep on looking, one thing I also noted during my quest is that there still quite some other options to go for. One might even be a fixed bbq.

The model to the left   (which is € 6295, not really my budget for a bbq…) is obviously a very nice idea to place in the garden.

It has a build in (water) sink and 2 fireplaces so you can use it also as a fireplace for in the garden.

Also a very neat idea is the BBQ train to the right  , really cool. The largest BBQ Train is about +€15.000, I will buy it whenever I get really rich and have a garden which allows me to have it’s own train inside it.
