Apple – iTunes – Download iTunes
And here it is…. iTunes 8! I have a hate-love relationship with the tool. There is a lot I don’t like (particularly the non multi-user thing and these constant !’s) but there is nothing better out there.

Winamp celebrates it’s 10th year anniversary and because of this anyone can download the full 5.5 version for free .
I assume you know this classic application. The new version has a lot neat new functionality like dynamic song suggestions and a complete new interface including album covers.
I have a love / hate relationship with Winamp. I think I am one of it’s first users, I’ve been using it since then forever. However it is also the single application I keep installing and uninstalling the most.
Each time I think of playing some neat shoutcast channels (I broadcasted some of those during 1999), completely indexing my mp3 collection with my star system or just want to hallucinate with the awesome visualizers I install it and every so often I think… hmmm… I should cleanup my laptop a little and so it is first on the list to de-install.
The new full version is an awesome 25gig and possibly does everything I can think of: the modules to choose from during the installation menu make me think of a corporate enterprise application I’m installing, I feel I have to study a lot before I actually understand what’s inside Winamp these days. After the installation it asks me which audio types I want to associate with the programm and it takes me a while to scroll through the list and scratch my head, I really really never heard of some of these audio types meaning: I have to go and Google on all of them because it means I’m lagging behind in knowledge. Hmmm… do i need .ACT, .PAM and .PVF audio support?
But… this is a good moment to finally get myself to installing winamp as a permanent asset on my machine. However that means I will have to look for answers on how to backup my data e.g. my “star ratings” etc… Let’s see if I can find a forum somewhere.
p.s. I’m looking for a way to store my “star” rating in the id3 tags via winamp, is there a way to do this?
