Ok…grmbl… via ZB Digitaal 0/4 I’ve got a new addiction: the Mashup between WikiPedia and Microsoft Live Maps (via the birds view).
Example? click here 0/1 and then click "Birds Eye" and you will see… this (Rome)
You can now stroll through Rome and mouse-over the numbered items to get massive information on the objects in the city. At the same time you move through the city, the pane on the left keeps track and keeps showing you updated information on places in the city.
London 0/1: (with a close-up of Trafalgar Square)
Amersfoort 0/1: (I didn’t find many Wikipedia Tags here yet, but since Amsterdam and Nijmegen were not available as Bird’s eye view I decided to take a snapshot of Amersfoort).
On here I found an updated list of places in Europe which are "bird-eyeable". Submit and thus should be wikipedia-able
The cool thing about this, is that the technology to walk in a city (with your GPS enabled PDA) and getting a 3d city trip with the Wikipedia encyclopedia information alongside it is already useable. So what I now WANT is that the complete Lonely Planets Submit are available for me and linkable to the bird’s eye view in Live Maps.
