Since the release of WLW, the Blogging front-end tool from Microsoft, I’ve been using it every single day to blog my way on cogmios.nl. However the last posting on the websit e dates back to november 2006. So i clicked through to the WLW forum just to see if there was any activity and was glad that I did because I found some interesting topics. The weird thing is that if you use a tool every day it somehow grows on you and when you then find out that there actually many other users who have more or less the same improvement points it’s like realizing that you are not insane
. It’s so cool finding these forums. On the next release:
“The next build we plan to release is going to be a major release. There are a lot of new features and major bug fixes. In the meantime there haven’t been any minor releases because we haven’t had showstopping bugs come up in a while (Blogger Beta issues were the last ones).
Sorry for the lack of updates on the blog, we have been trying to keep the details (including the ship date) of the next release under wraps so as a result there’s not much for us to talk about in the meantime.
We can’t wait to get the new release out into your hands, we haven’t been sitting idle for these long months since 1.0.1 shipped.”
I see that Joe Cheng of the WLW team replies that some new features will come up in the next release:
- The annoying new window after you hit “new” when posting will be gone! Jippie! I really thought there was some deeper philosophy behind it that I didn’t get (source ).
- More keyboard shortcuts (source )
- A new icon for Vista (source )
- There are definitely user interface changes coming (source )
- maybe…posting images to Blogger (source )
- further correct xhtml improvements (source )
- posting an extended entry (source )
- password protection of posts (source )
- title section posting bug fix (source )
- Pages support in even further releases (source )
- fix for bug “uploading an image that hasn’t changed do not upload it again” diskspace!!(source )
- fix for spellcheck on httplinks (source )
- excerpt box for MT (source )
Some workaround to current problems:
- If you post via WLW, then change a post in your blogsoftware, then go back to WLW the changes will never be reflected in the version of your WLW. The solutions is to delete the offending post in My Documents\My Weblog Posts\Recent Posts and then get the post via the open post dialog by selecting you weblog on the left hand side.

- Line break: shift-enter (no problem just a tip
)
